A classic spice blend for Yemen and Israeli cuisine. For enhanced flavour It is ground and roasted to add the traditional taste. Hawaij spice means "mixture" in Arabic. It is also known as Hawayej or Hawaj. It is used in sweet and savoury dishes, soup, stew, marinades, grilled meat, rice, pies and coffee.
To make a marinade - Mix with lemon juice, olive oil, salt and Aleppo pepper.
