Background and Native Countries
Allspice is dried, staled, & half-grown berry of Pimento dioica, a mid-canopy tree native to the Greater Antilles, southern Mexico, and Central America. It is now cultivated in warm regions around the whole globe, but the most refined form of allspice comes from Jamaica.
Cropping and Harvesting
Once the tree reaches three, it starts to bear fruits, which blooms flowers between June & August. Berries are produced briefly after the blooming phase. Once berries are all grown in size, unripe & lush green, it's time to crop them, dry till they turn out dark reddish-brown in color.
Taste and Aroma
Allspice is insanely famous for its spicy taste & aroma. Its flavor is warm & sweetly whiff with the hint of pepper. These tiny little brown berries have a strong scent that gives the impression of the blend of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, black pepper, & clove.
